A man hobbled into court today - the victim of a shooting - but he was no victim in the eyes of the law, he was shot - allegedly - in the commission of a crime.
48 year old Joseph Bevans Jr. was caught coming out of Kevin Graham's home in Western Paradise on Friday afternoon. Graham told police he saw him with a bag and then he saw him dash into the bushes. When he came out of the bushes Graham took the bag away - which is when he dashed back into the bushes. That is when a concerned neighbor shot him twice in the left leg. A police officer was passing by and took Bevans in his vehicle to the KHMH.
Graham said the bag contained his tennis shoes, boots and sweat shoes. Today in court Bevans pleaded not guilty to burglary and offered him bail of five thousand dollars. Bevans who has 9 previous conviction was unable to meet it and was taken to prison.
