And between those two teenage shootings, there was another. It happened on 8:45 on Poinsettia Street in the Lake Independence Area. This time, the victim wasn't any gang youth; it was a 51 year old mechanic who was shot in a merciless ride-by.
Linsford Ferguson, of a Vernon Street address, was riding his bike on Poinsettia when two men passed on bicycles, and one of them fired a spray of gunfire which hit him in the left side of neck, the nose and right side of back.
All the wounds were from 9 millimeter bullets and his son Michael Buckley spoke to us today about the extent of his father's injuries and the mindlessness of the shooting.
Michael Buckley, Son
"I heard that he got shot when I was at the gym. I hurry come home and they told me that my father had gotten shot, but I never believe it. I have faith in my God and I say that he is not dead so when I went to the hospital and saw the situation - he had gotten shot in his face and in his lower back."

"At what time did this happen?"
Michael Buckley, Son

"I think around 7."

"You dad was coming home from work?"
Michael Buckley, Son
"They say that he was coming home from work. He had almost reach his home when he got shot. Some people help him on the street, but i thank God that he is still living and glad that how is still alive. The doctors say that he is now eating because he wasn't eating or drinking any water so thank God he is eating now. He still has pain in his feet, but he is getting better slowly so eventually the doctors say that he will walk again."

"Any reason why anyone would want to attack your dad?"
Michael Buckley, Son
"I don't have any reason why because he is a nice person, he work for anybody, he does mechanic, he work for anybody and he don't do anybody anything at all."
Police recovered four expended shells from the scene.
