Today the two men accused of killing a pair of female Chinese grocers in separate shootings on Saturday were taken to court under tight security. There were no outraged Chinese protestors, no incensed mob, no closed courtroom matters.
As we reported last night, they are Jordan Cayetano who is the one in yellow, an 18 year old charged for the murder of 32 year old King Street storekeeper Yan Ying Chen and 20 year old Kareem Francis - who has the shirt with the design on it - charged for the murder of 36 year old mother of two, Fei Lan Wu, a storekeeper on Faber's Road.
Cayetano, a resident of Antelope Street Extension was charged with murder and was also charged with kept firearm and ammunition without a gun license. He was remanded into custody until June 7. As we reported, a quick response by the Gang Supression unit found him in Rowland's Alley - a few hundred feet from the scene of the shooting. A 9 millimeter pistol was also found right behind his leg.
According to the allegation Cayetano shot and killed Chen on Saturday April 2. The police found him with a Smith and Wesson 9 millimeter pistol which had 10 rounds of ammunition in its magazine.
And in the other shooting, 21 year old Kareem Francis was charged with the murder of Fei Lan Wu. Francis was remanded into custody until June 7.
He was also found on Saturday shortly after the shooting reportedly with a firearm, but police still have not publicized the details of his arrest.
