Earlier we told you about the aggressive anti crime initiatives Cabinet has endorsed, but there's also one more bit of important news and it involves Harmonyville.
Minister of Natural Resources Gaspar Vega and his staff met with representatives from BGYEA and the Valle Nuevo Group - which is the rival immigrant community yesterday. They discussed a memorandum of understanding for Harmonyville where - according to a cabinet brief - it was verbally agreed verbally that 152 one-acre lots would be subdivided for the Valle Nuevo Group. For the 52 members who have structures or developed farmland, they will remain on those lots and the remaining 100 lots will be distributed via a random selection process.
For BGYEA, over 800 lots will be subdivided and 400 would be distributed as the Movement wishes while the remaining 400 plus lots would be distributed via a random selection process. The release says that The Grassroots Movement said that they would return today to sign the MOU.
Instead, the release claims that when he appeared on LOVE FM this morning, Nigel Petillo indicated that he is not prepared to work with the government on the subdivision and distribution of lots at Harmonyville.
So, Cabinet decided today to proceed with subdividing the acreage for the Valle Nuevo Group and BGYEA will, quote: "have to proceed on their own with relation to costs, subdivision and distribution."
