There was another street execution in the city over the weekend- this one happened at night and 27 year old fisherman Russell Dougal was the target.
Unlike the shooting victims last week, Dougal had a checkered past, and today Monica Bodden asked his sister what his final words were:

It was under this shed where this black bow hangs - that 27 year old Russel Dougal was shot ON SUNDAY NIGHT.

"Me and a friend was sitting in front of the gate - something we normally do every weekend and like may about 10 minutes to 10 we decide we would come inside because we got sleepy and I I came upstairs. I was a bit hungry and decided to warm some food but I ran over to the Chinese shop to buy something to drink and came upstairs back, by the time I get to take the stuff from the microwave and sat down I hear one single gunshot and usually my window is close to the street side but I didn't bother to look outside through the window. I came on the verandah and look out and saw everybody looking in that direction - down the street and somebody ran up back the street and says that Russel got shot."
While fighting for his life in the hospital, some family members had a chance to speak with him shortly before he passed away.

"The oldest brother Roger and Eric went in and they said they got to talk to Russel briefly. They ask him if he was ok and Russel said yes and he said that he only have a pain in his chest."

"Did he say who shot him?"

"My brother didn't try to ask and Russel kind of mumbled something but no name or anything did come out. He asks Russel if he knew who shoot him and Russel said yes and that was it. The doctors told them that they would have to come out because Russel needs to go into surgery immediately."
The shooting happened around 10:30 on Sunday. Dougal was sitting down under this shed on Faber's Road - when a man rode up on a bicycle and fired a single shot - which caught Dougal in the lower abdomen.
The bullet exited through his right upper back. The man then rode into Sanker Street - and made good his escape.

"He was sitting under the shed and a gunman rode up on a bicycle and fire one shot which hit Russel in the stomach and this bullet exited through his back. They took him to the hospital in the same black pick-up that was park in front of the shed and when we got to the hospital the neighbor who was with him said that he just got one shot and he seems like je will be ok."
Russel Dougal had several run-ins with the law. On January 11 police found over four pounds of marijuana hidden in two buckets under his house and he was charged with two counts of drug trafficking.

"Russel was somewhat a little maker like everybody would say or whatever. Russel was well known by a lot of people, he has a lot of friends but in terms of problem with the law - I think he had little issue with drugs."

Police have the name of a suspect, but no arrests have been made….
