The last weekend in May almost passed without a murder - but last night in Orange Walk Town, shots rang out and when the smoke cleared, a 26 year old father of one lay dead.

26 year old Alberto Tuttt was shot to death at his mother's residence in Orange Walk Town around 11 o'clock last night.
The young man was sitting alone outside at the time of the incident- When someone came from out of nowhere and shot him 4 times.
His family who was inside their small wooden bungalow house said they heard about 6 shots.
Today his mother told us her son was receiving threatening text messages last night from someone who he had been involved in a fight with.
She believes those text messages may have led to his murder.

"I went to a party with my daughter and when I come home he told 'ma, you know what, guess who call me' I told him that I don't know, he told me that "chelmo" call him. He spoke to her and then later on when he stop talking to her a guy text him and start to threaten him and telling him things, so he told him that if he forgot that when he had beaten he and they guy sent him another text saying that if he want he can beat him and his father too. After that the guy didn't text again, he said that he text him like 5 times and he didn't text back and he told me that he will text him back right now. I told him (Alberto) to stop fool around with that man. I told him that I was going to bed because I am sleepy and the kids have to go to school."
Her son followed her inside her room and then told her he was leaving to go home.

"I was in bed and never got up and I told my granddaughter to go and lock the door because her uncle is gone. When she went to lock the door she didn't tell me that he was sitting down right there outside, so when she heard the gunshot she says that it's her uncle that got kill. I told her that why she didn't say that he was sitting out here."
According to Tutt's mother, she heard the shots but didn't know that her son was still outside her house.
Tuttt was shot twice to the upper back, once to the upper shoulder and once behind the back of his head.
He was found lying face down in some grass. His family believes his murderer entered by jumping the back fence.

"You heard how many shots?"

"I don't remember how much but the guy at the morgue told me that its 4."

"He receives the shots to where? Which part of his body?"
Hortencia Cabrara - Mother
"One in his head; they shoot him from the back of his head and it exited through the front and 3 shots to the back."

"You think the gun man may have entered from in front of the yard or at the back?"
Hortencia Cabrara - Mother
"I think at the back. because I heard the dog barking back there when that happen."
The person that was texting Tutt those threatening text messages last night is well known to the family. In fact Tutt was involved in an altercation with him that caused Tutt some jail time.

"Now the person who was texting him, did he told you at any point why that person was texting him?"
Hortencia Cabrara - Mother
"No, but he already had a misunderstanding with him. He was in jail because of him because he had beaten the guy already."
And in a detail that was mistakenly amended to a story earlier in the newscast, Police have one person detained pending investigation. Tutt was the father of a 4 year old son.
