The afternoon of November 6, 2008 witnessed one of the worst traffic accidents we've ever seen: 18 people were injured and one small child died when a loaded tour bus collided with an SUV between mile 7 and 8 on the Northern Highway. Well, today the man driving the SUV was convicted for causing the death of his own daughter.
Thirty one year old Luke Cox, charged with manslaughter by negligence for the death of his 11 month old daughter, Tory, was fined five thousand dollars today in the court of Justice Adolph Lucas after he pleaded guilty to causing death by careless conduct.
Justice Lucas gave Cox until June 15, 2012 to pay the fine. If he defaults on payment he will serve 1 year. Cox was represented by attorney Arthur Saldivar. Crown Counsel Thalia Megan Francis represented the prosecution.
