Last night between 7:00 and 7:30 there were two shootings. At the end of the news last night, we told you about Kareem Lopez and Keon Francis - who were shot near to Excelsior school. And then just after the news, there was another shooting - this one on Glynn Street behind Extra House.

Monica Bodden has the story of both events that left two neighborhoods terrorized:

Crime scene experts processed the area on Nurse Finley Crescent where over 20 shell markers were arrayed across the street...

The shooting happened in front of this Adventist Church around 7 o'clock last night-while a service was in session.

Kareem "Robbery" Lopez and 19 year old Keon "Babba" Francis were shot inside a green Geo Prism Car.

The two men had just left from the Excelsior High School Basketball Court and had just gotten into the vehicle - when two gunmen came out of a yard on Nurse Finley Crescent and opened fire on the car.

"Police responded to a scene a little after 7 last night at the Nurse Finley Crescent. A little off Fabers road, this is opposite the Excelsior Highs School, where they say Kareem Lopez and Keon Francis suffering from several gunshot wounds to the body. Initial investigations revealed that they walked from the basketball court to a car that was parked at that location, where a lone gunman fired upon them."

Kareem Lopez was shot to the left side of his chest, left arm, his abdomen and right leg - while Keon Francis was shot to his left upper arm and left rib cage.

Police have recovered 24 expended shells from off the scene - We were told someone is detained for their shooting.

"We have a person in custody, and Lopez is presently listed in critical condition at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, whilst Francis is in stable condition. Lopez received several body shots, into the left side of the chest - to the abdomen - and other parts of the body."

According to police, both Lopez and Francis are known affiliates of the Gill Street gang - and the alleged triggerman is also from the same gang.

"Lopez and Francis are known members of the Gill Street Element. The person that we have in custody is also a member of the Gill Street Element. We are not certain if that is our man, but our investigations have led us to his detention so far."

Less than 30 minutes later and they were reports of another shooting. Heavily armed guards lined the area in front of number 7 Glenn Street. Two other persons were shot. 26 year old Burthen Garoy and 52 year old Edison Middleton.

Garoy was socializing inside this yard at number 7 Glenn Street, while Middleton was socializing in the same yard but on the second floor of this verandah - According to witnesses the gunman opened fire randomly from across the fence as he stood on Glenn Street.

"A little before 8 last night, police responded to yet another shooting scene - on Glenn Street this time - where Edison Middleton, a stevedore, was see suffering from a gunshot wound to the hip, and Burton Garoy was seen suffering from a gunshot wound to the left upper arm and shoulder. These men were transported to the KHMH. Our initial investigations revealed that these men were in separate yards, when a lone gunman opened fire on them, hitting them. I know that they were rushed to the KHMH, and they have been treated and released so far. We are still trying to establish the identity of the gunman in this, and we are still looking for a motive also."

KAREEM "ROBBERY" LOPEZ is in a critical condition while 19 year old Keon "Babba" Francis is stable.

In the second shooting, both Edison Middleton and Burthon Garoy were treated and released...
