It was big news in February of 2009 when a string of bodies - three in total turned up dead on a beach 16 miles north of Ambergris Caye. The killings were suspected to be retaliation for a drug drop that went missing. The badly beaten and bullet riddled body of John Paul Saldivar was found in an area known as Rocky Point and two days later police went to an area one mile and a half north of Rocky Point where they discovered the bodies of James Swan and Edward Gutierrez in a shallow grave.
Ten days after police uncovered the bodies of Swan and Gutierrez they arrested three men who they strongly believed at the time committed the double homicide. Those men were Gabriel Salazar, Alexander and Frank Edwards. As many as 8 persons were charged for the three killings- including two of George Street dons Shelton "Pinky" Tillett and Micah Thompson.
In January of last year 6 of the 8 men were freed when the murder charge against them was withdrawn. But the other two accused, Brionne Swift and Victor Garnett were not so lucky and was sentenced for murder. But tonight police say Gabriel Salazar and Frank Edwards have now been charged again with the double murder of Swan and Gutierrez.
