For the past week - we've been telling you about the cleverly-orchestrated cases of land title theft. Police now say they are aggressively searching for the man who they say is the leader of the ring, 28 year old Lindburg Williams from the Commerce Bight Pier area of Dangriga.
Now. We've heard very many complaints about this individual and his alleged land scams - we've also seen multiple fraudulent documents with his name, but police say they only have one single report about him and that is the one from Israel Pi Marin.
Press Officer Fitzroy Yearwood told us more:…
Sgt. Fitzroy Yearwood - Police Press Officer
"We have dome our investigation and our investigation have led us to believe that Mr. Linburg Williams needs to come in and clear up certain points regarding his name and his involvement in the sale of that land."
Jules Vasquez
"Now I have seen and certainly heard the name Linburg Williams in a number of transactions that have been brought to my attention in the process of doing the news and this land fraud or title theft. Is he being investigated for cases beyond the one involving Mr. Marin and Mrs. Zabaneh?"
Sgt. Fitzroy Yearwood - Police Press Officer
"Jules, unfortunately we only have one official complaint against him but we are encouraging other complainants that if this person have deceive or forge some kind of document involving that you believe was yours to please come in to the Dangriga police station and make a formal complaint."
Jules Vasquez
"Now other people have told me - a foreign gentleman told me that he went to make a complaint very specifically against Linburg and Jeferdee or Jeffrey Williams who is a sibling of his and he said that there were laughs out of the police station because these guys enjoy some special level of protection in Dangriga."
Sgt. Fitzroy Yearwood - Police Press Officer
"Well Jules we also have an internal investigation going on because we have receive a complaint of that nature and it's not professional for our officers to do things like this and we do not encourage that kind of behavior. Obviously if that foreigner made a report early enough - we would have address it a long time ago but as far as privilege these men are not allowed any privilege. As a matter of fact I have release photo of Lindburg Williams asking of for the assistance of the public in trying to locate him. As recent as this morning we conducted a search in an area that we believe he was occupying but it was fruitless. We know that he has members of the community who are assisting him. We are asking these people not to harbor him and instead call and ask the police to come and pick up Mr. Williams. This man is wanted."
Jules Vasquez
"There are a number of others players in what looks like a ring. I've seen the name Setuaye Mejia and I've seen the name Angel Moreira - Justice of the Peace - people who I've heard are from Seine Bight. Are these people being sought as well?"
Sgt. Fitzroy Yearwood - Police Press Officer
"These people are being sought, like I said there file have been forwarded. It's somewhat almost complete. We will await the instructions of the DPP and we hope that charges will be file soon."
Jules Vasquez
"Again, so only Mr. Williams or against other people involve in this title theft?"
Sgt. Fitzroy Yearwood - Police Press Officer
"Hopefully against everyone involve in this. We believe also its a ring but like I said Mr. Williams is believe to be at the hub of this entire ring."
Late this evening, The DPP could not confirm if her office has received the file…
