21 year old Omar Espat, charged with attempted murder and grievous harm, was acquitted of the charges today in the court of Justice Adolph Lucas - and again, it's because the victim didn't want to press matters.

The prosecution represented by Crown Counsel Thalia Megan Francis, had no further evidence to offer after the first witness, the complainant 21 year old Vince Mitchell, took the witness stand and testified that he does not want any further court action.

Justice Lucas then directed the jury of 9 to return a formal verdict of not guilty for both counts.

The violent encounter occurred around 8:15 on the night of February 13, 2009 in front of Li Chee restaurant on Freetown Road. Mitchell reported to the police that he and friends went to buy at Li Chee but when he got there he saw Regan Rogers whom he had an old beef with. Mitchell said a second person who came out of the vehicle stabbed him under his left armpit.
