Police say no signs of physical injury were observed on a man who was found dead in a Lake Independence drain last night.

But his family says otherwise; they say that they observed signs of foul play.

At around 7:00, 52 year old Roy Enriquez left his sister's home on Mahogany Street and by 9:30 he was found lying face down in a water filled drain on Santa Barbara Street, with his blue and white bicycle beside him.

Police theorize that it could be a heart attack, but we spoke to the aggrieved family at the hospital today and they say that the signs of violence are obvious to them:

Ian Enriquez - Father Found Dead in Drain

"We got the information, right, that they found my father in a drain in Belize City, dead. They supposedly said that he was sick earlier in the week, so maybe he fell of his bicycle and into the drain. That's the information that my aunts gave me. Now we, right here, went to the back to see our father. When we went to the back to see our father, we still had this heart attack thing that you all know about in the case. But when went and we saw our father with a big gash under his nose, joined across his mouth in one. That doesn't look like anybody that fell into a drain from heart attack. And they wanted to deny us from taking a picture of him in the hospital, saying that it's against their policy. And the police they protected it - the lady from upstairs came down and said - because I am literally arguing against them as to why I can't get this picture. So the lady basically said, 'Alright, that's it. Escort him off the premises.' And that's it; I can't get any picture because this is hospital policy. They literally didn't want us to get this picture."

A Post mortem was to be held this afternoon - but, after raising an uproar, the family managed to get it put off until today. They say they were not allowed to witness the post mortem - and want to have a family doctor to witness it tomorrow.
