Security Guard Accused Of Fondling Child

Fifty year old Chester Smith, a security guard at a fashion store on Orange Street who is accused of sexually assaulting a 5 year old girl, was charged with aggravated assault when he appeared today in the Magistrate's Court. Smith pleaded not guilty to the charge, but the prosecutor objected to bail on the grounds that the offence has become prevalent and if granted bail Smith might interfere with the child. In response Smith said he is innocent and he is a father and he would never do such a thing.

Magistrate Roberto Ordonez upheld the objection and remanded Smith into custody until November 23. The incident occurred between June and September 2011. The child told police that Smith fondled and robbed himself against her.
