Police need your help in identifying an armed robber who held up Mike's Supermarket on Manta Ray Boulevard in Vista Del Mar. It happened on Friday afternoon.
As this security camera footage shows, the man came into the store, and seemed to order something from behind the counter. At the time, one of the owners, a Chinese man was sitting outside and taking a smoke.
The robber - who wore a motorcycle helmet - appeared to have bought a cigarette and even asked for a light. After he lit up, that's when the proprietor calmly walked back inside. He was standing behind the customer, which is when he turned from a shopper to a robber.
He pulled out a pistol, cranked it, and then pointed it sideways at the Chinese man. He took him to the back where he forced him to hand over an undisclosed amount of money.
They stayed at the back there for about a minute, after which the robber, ran out, jumped on his motorbike and sped off.
The proprietor came out shortly after. Police did detain one man from the Fresh pond area who is known to ride a motorbike and wear a helmet but he has since been released because investigators were not sure that he is the culprit.
The angle of the camera and the helmet proved sufficient to conceal his identity…
