On Friday we shoed you the tragic bus accident that happened in Double Head Cabbage, where 3 year old Rayjanee McFadzean was run over by a school bus.
The bus driver was Forty seven year old Fidel Lanza, of Isabella Bank.
Today, he was charged with manslaughter by negligence when he appeared in the Magistrate's Court. Lanza was also charged with causing death by careless conduct, driving without due care and attention and negligent grievous harm.
Chief Magistrate Ann Marie Smith explained to him that she will not take a plea because the offences are indictable. For manslaughter by negligence, she offered him a cash bail of two thousand dollars and a signed bail of three thousand dollars. For causing death by careless conduct and negligent grievous harm she offered him signed bails of two thousand dollars each. For driving without due care and attention she offered Lanza a bail of five hundred dollars in his own recognizance. Lanza was unable to meet bail so he was remanded to prison.
The incident occurred in Friday morning, December 9 on Double Head Cabbage Road. Lanza was driving a yellow Blue Bird bus when he knocked down 3 year old Rayjenee Mcfadzean and her 5 year old brother, Tayjuan Flowers. Rayjenee died but Tayjuan received only minor injury. The children were on their way to school when the incident occurred.
