Seven men were caught by Ladyville police early on Saturday morning - and tonight seven of them are on remand - even though one of them pleaded guilty.

The incident occurred around 3:25a.m on Saturday, December 10. The police received information that a firearm was in a silver Infiniti car which was travelling on the Northern Highway towards Sandhill, and they intercepted the car at the junction of Burrell Boom Road and the Northern Highway. When they searched the car they found one 9 millimeter pistol with a magazine loaded with 8 rounds in the glove compartment.

Seven men were in the car and all of them were arrested. Today, one of the seven, 24 year old plumber Orlando Reyes, pleaded guilty to kept firearm and ammunition without a license when he was arraigned today in the Magistrate's court. Senior Magistrate Sharon Fraser sentenced him to 5 years for each offence with the stipulation that the sentence are to run concurrently.

Although Reyes pleaded guilty, the prosecutor did not withdraw the charges against the others. They are 23 year old Earl Gill - the driver of the car and a security guard residing in Sandhill; 23 year old Jamie Young, an office assistant employed at Public Utilities Commission; 26 year old Kevin Vacarro, a boat captain residing in Sandhill; a 17 year old boy; 22 year old Janine Henry; and 19 year old Natalie Middleton. They were remanded into custody until January 3, 2012.
