A San Pedro man was charged with aggravated assault of a minor after allegedly fondling a 5-year-old girl that his wife was babysitting.
He is 50-year old taxi driver Manolo Contreras. It allegedly happened in the DFC area - south of the island at Contreras's residence. We warn you; the details of the story are not suitable for young viewers.
The mother of the minor reported the incident to police after her child went to use the bathroom on Christmas Day and began complaining of pain to her vagina. The child then told her mother that Contreras had fondled her, and it wasn't the first time. Today in a telephone interview with 7news, the mother of the child explained what happened. Due to the nature of the incident we cannot show the identity of the mother:

"My baby told me on the on Christmas Day the 25th of December, she went to the bathroom thereafter she was yelling and told me mommy, mommy "me duele, secame secame unde Don Manolo me toca." Yes that was what my baby told me. I hurriedly went and checked my baby to see what was going on. So I asked her and she showed me her private area, and it was all red, very, red, so I asked her what was going on, and she told me it wasn't the first time it happened. She told me that all the time that she didn't go to school and I go to work, he touches me."

"Yes and my baby said she didn't say anything because the man told her if she tells me he would lash my baby. I was shocked. I am so pissed off; I couldn't believe what my baby was telling me, because I know the babysitter from long time ago. I never expected that would happen with her husband."

"Well thank God she is ok. I see that she is not traumatized or nothing, but the only thing that she is telling me that she doesn't want to stay here on the Island, she wants to go and live somewhere else."
Contreras was offered bail of five hundred dollars which he met. Again, the incident happened in the DFC area of San Pedro Town at Contreras's residence.
