A disturbing video that's being circulated in Belize has caught the attention of UNIBAM. It seems to have been captured in the Martin's area of Belize City and shows two males caught in a sexual act. The video is captured in slow motion and it shows that immediately, the man who catches them, takes a stick, and repeatedly beats one of the males, while the other gets dressed. The man tries to run, but is struck, punched and kicked repeatedly - as his bike is taken and he runs for his life. Today, Caleb Orozco of UNIBAM said his organization is investigating what seems to be a hate crime. He says, quote, "Violence like this occurs everyday against LGBT persons living in families and communities. It is unfortunate that violence was used to dehumanise a person from the population with diverse abilities and the other person. It is clear that no matter what law exists, the 32% who are intolerant, will remain ill prepared to deal with the matter of sexuality and will continue to mistreat persons from the persons with diverse abilities as less than human devoid of sexuality. This is not the first case, but the first to be caught on video in 2019. It will not be the last." End quote.
