BHS Did the Robot In Dubai

The First Global Challenge: it's a yearly robotics competition that promotes STEM education and careers for youth. It was held in Dubai this year and students from the Belize High School Robotics club represented Belize well with their ocean cleaning robot called Sea Empress. The team returned on Tuesday after a 7 day stay. The team had a booth at the Coastal Awareness Week fair this morning and we dropped by to ask them about their experience in Dubai.

The Belize team placed 131 out of 189 countries. This year's competition theme was ocean opportunity: keeping oceans clean. Last year the competition was held in Mexico and another team from Belize High School participated.
