And while the Commissioner was outraged at that blatant disregard for the spread, The Belizean internet is outraged at evidence of elder abuse allegedly perpetrated by a woman from Maya Mopan.
It's a viral video depicting an elderly, emaciated man struggling to enter a shed, all the while being watched by a family member, and once he's inside she proceeds to lock him in.
The video was captured by a concerned observer who posted it with a caption that says quote: "The street behind Xalpec street in Maya Mopan Belmopan, I am appealing for the Police department and Human Development to intervene immediately and rescue the elderly man from that lady. I hope we don't say it's cultural. Elderly Lives Matters." End quote.
We hope to have a comment from police on this matter soon.
