He's already facing criminal prosecution for allegedly kidnapping and assaulting his girlfriend, but tonight, the 20-year-old Police Constable, Dwayne Sutherland is back in the news. That's because he's being jointly accused along with others of robbing a man at gunpoint of his motorcycle, his schoolbag, and his cellular phone.

Court details are that on Independence Day, he, 19-year-old Anthony Arnold, a resident of Lemonal Village, and another unidentified man allegedly held up Ronald Heron at gunpoint in the Burrell Boom area. They allegedly stole the victim's Lifan motorcycle, valued at $1,200; his school bag, which contained an assortment of clothes; and the victim's Alcatel cellphone, which is valued at $175.

Both men were arraigned today before Magistrate Stephanie Gillett on the single charge of robbery. Although they both pleaded not guilty to the offense, they couldn't be granted bail at the Magistrate's Court level, due to the nature of the offense. So, Magistrate Gillett remanded them to the Belize Central Prison until their next court date, which is scheduled for November 30th, 2020.

This new robbery charge could also affect Sutherland's Supreme Court bail for kidnapping. If the sitting judge thinks it justifiable, his bail may be revoked.
