And while that 37 year old is feared dead, a minor was hospitalized after receiving a gunshot injury to the neck yesterday morning around 2:00.
15-year-old Christian Ramos was alongside 33-year-old Shane Bahadur in Ladyville when he was hit - but the question is, why was a minor hanging out with a known gang affiliate? That's what we asked Superintendent Alejandro Cowo this morning at the police press briefing.
Superintendent Alejandro Cowo, Head, CIB Belize City
"What police gathered so far is that the minor along with that same person that accompanied him to the station were at a yard at Perez Street when a male person came out and fired shots at him, injuring the minor."

"But he wasn't the target?"
Superintendent Alejandro Cowo, Head, CIB Belize City
"Well I know that the other person that was accompanying him was a person that was well known to police and it is suspected that he was the intended target."

"Two in the morning, a shooting like this takes place, a minor is hanging out with a known person who is known to the police, is there an element of gang rivalry here that the police department is investigating?"
Superintendent Alejandro Cowo, Head, CIB Belize City
"Well we know that the other person has had a dispute with another person from that area and we believe that possibly that is the motive that was behind the shooting."
Reporter
"Has that person been detained?"
Superintendent Alejandro Cowo, Head, CIB Belize City
"Police is looking for that person."
Ramos is in a stable condition.
