So, with coronavirus spiking at a whole new level, we asked the new Minister of Health and Wellness, attorney Michel Chebat, what course the PUP will take to adjust Government's coronavirus response.
He told us that all quarantine regulations, which were put in place under former PM Barrow, will remain. He said he and his team of advisors intend to review them extensively, and recommendations for necessary changes will come at a later date:

"What happens with the administration with the country's national pandemic response?"
Hon. Michel Chebat - Ministry of Health & Wellness
"Obviously every regulations that's currently in place remains until the cabinet has decided otherwise. I have spent the weekend consulting with different personals in the ministry of health getting up to speed as to where we are and certainly Covid is predominant on our minds and we are going to be meeting shortly to come up with additional measures that we need to take to help us to stop the transmission of Covid."

"As it is also we see a trending up of the numbers. We would hope that by this time we would start to see an ease on the number of new infections detected. What are your thoughts on that?"
Hon. Michel Chebat - Ministry of Health & Wellness
"Unfortunately that has not been the case. I think it is important right now that we remind everyone that this really depends upon you and the personal care you take, please wear your mask, wash your hands, the social distancing - we are asking employers who have a large amount of employees, those who can stay and work at home who don't have to be at the office to take these measures, because these are the measures that's going to help us to stop the transmission. Remember that this disease is spread by persons and so it is important for us to be in the 6 foot distance if we don't have to have everybody clogged up in small places, let's try to avoid that as much as possible. Let's try to bring shift work into place. So we need to be creative, because the ultimate objective has to be to end the transmission and for as long as we continue to gather, for as long as we fail to wear a mask, wash our hands and take the necessary precautions then we are continue the up surge in numbers."
