Accused of NHI Theft

Since COVID - NHI spending has been cut back - resulting in reduced services to many regular folks who depend on the basic health insurance. And that's why it was especially painful today when reports emerged that as much as $60,000 thousand dollars was misappropriated from the NHI fund in Corozal before the November 2020 General Election.

Details are scarce at this time, but we have learned that an assistant administrator at the Corozal Community Hospital has been detained for questioning. But the system has multiple checks and balances - so he could not have done it alone - and we are told the Financial Intelligence Unit has been called in to investigate the missing money.
