Burglar bars are designed to protect the person inside, but last night it afforded shopkeeper Evelin Diaz no such protection.
At around 6:30, she was at Edel Store on Antelope Street working at the cash register, serving a man who'd asked to purchase cigarettes.
But then suddenly, he stuck his hand through the shop's burglar bars and grabbed Diaz's gold chain from around her neck. He then pulled out a gun which he pointed at the shopkeeper as he left. Police continue to investigate this robbery and have surveillance video to try and find the suspect.
