On to crime news…yesterday we told you that the Digi outlet on the Philip Goldson Highway was robbed sometime after 5pm. Today, we can confirm that the robbers arrived in a taxi and wore red Diginet uniforms. The security guard assumed they were employees and unlocked the door for them. He then took them to the manager's office on the upper flat of the store where two other employees were. But when they stepped into the office, one of the robbers pulled out a gun from his waist and proceeded to steal a transparent bag with an undisclosed amount of money inside. The suspects then fled the scene in the same taxi they arrived in.
According to Digi's public relations officer, Steven Yarwood, the employees did not receive any major injuries during the robbery but are left traumatized. He explained that the company will have to do more to ensure the safety of their employees.
Partial prints were lifted from the scene. Yarwood refrained from confirming whether there is surveillance footage available.
