The second southern villager to lose his life was 49-year-old Pedro Pau - and it happened later on Friday night. Pau was drinking at one of his usual spots in Hope Creek Village with another man when they got into an argument. That argument then led the fatal stabbing that took Pau's life. The incident occurred around 5pm on Friday and since then the police have arrested and charged one man for Pau's murder.
Courtney Menzies went to the village to speak with residents who knew the victim well. Here's her story.
49-year-old Pedro Pau, who most people know as Peter, did not live in Hope Creek Village, but he was well known and loved by its villagers since he was a reliable handyman. But now, they will miss that helpfulness since Pau was stabbed to death on Friday evening.
Pau had been drinking with another man in a yard before their socializing turned deadly. Jevon Parham, whose mother was inside their home in the same yard at the time, said that she saw when the men left but was not aware of the murder happening right across the street.

"He goes and he cleans people yard, assist in anything he can do and so they pay him a little money. So he's an all-arounder, a very nice man, he's also a very intelligent man. So what happened that day, they were probably socializing in our yard and two of the guys went out of the yard, and according to what my mom told me, they left the yard so she did not know what happened after that. Unfortunately, the alleged guy that supposedly did the stabbing, came with the police and showed them where it actually took place and that's why I brought you here according to what we know that the guy point out to the police and said a commotion happened in this area here."
His death comes as a shock since Parham told us Pau was not known to cause problems in the village.

"He's a guy that likes to drink, I don't know if he had gotten in trouble before but I think nobody in the village can say that the guy is a troublemaker."
"Peter Pau came here several years ago, he went out of the village, he comes back and back and forth. We just saw him probably like two months ago came into the village, did some work, and then he started to hang out with my dad. They took him to the farm, he was supposed to do work with my dad at the farm. Unfortunately that didn't happen. That's as far as we know."
But Parham said Pau was always willing to work to earn his keep.

"He was a very cool guy, in fact I was supposed to give him a job in the upcoming days that I got a contract to do and he was amazed and he was enthusiastic about it, "when are you going to give me a job?' And I told him as soon as I get through I'll give you a call, you'll be the first one, because he works very hard and you can depend on him so he's a reliable person. So sad, a good life taken away."

The police also gave some insight into Pau's death.
Senior Supt. Hilberto Romero, Deputy Head NCIB
"Information received was that he was at Hope Creek when he got into an altercation with a male person who inflicted the stab wounds to him. Peter Pau later succumbed to his injuries. An investigation was carried out and one person was detained. This person has since been arrested and charged for the crime of murder and his name is Hilberto Saravia of Hope Creek Village."
Pau's brother told us he had one daughter and that was constantly on the go, moving from village to village.
