The orgy of violence continued on the Southside last night - which saw the fourth murder in four days - all within a tight geographical area within the Mesopotamia Division.
Last night's victims was 33-Year-old Lemar Young killed when he allegedly acted as the driver in a drive-by shooting on Armadillo street.
It's another gangland shoot out and it's left one more casualty and two teenagers in the clutches of the law. Cherisse Halsall reports:
This is the bullett riddled Honda Odyssey Van that was used in last night's drive-by shooting on Armadillo street.
And it's here in the front seat where 33-year-old driver Lemar Young took his last breaths after being fatally shot to the back.
The Van ended up in these bushes, its engine still running, the driver dead behind the wheel.
Passengers, an 18-year-old and a 13-year-old minor, managed to escape with their lives.
But that was sheer luck because they were dodging gunshots that came from behind #17 Armadillo's Zinc fence - a defensive response to the attack that they allegedly launched on that house.
The exchange of gunfire shattered the glass of this Rav-4 which was parked two houses down.
This morning CIB Personnel remained on patrol at the scene, when we got there they'd just dropped off one of the residents, likely after a lengthy interview process.
But of all the unanswered questions in the wake of last night's shooting, the one Lemar Young's family is asking is how and why he got involved.
Voice of: Uncle
"Shocking, unexpected at that time you know anytime your phone rings its bad news."
Cherisse Halsall:
"Sir it appears that your nephew was driving a car that may have visited that street to carry out a drive-by shooting, is that in any way even remotely, possibly connected to the character you knew him to have?"
Voice of: Uncle
"No. I mean I know that sometimes, I mean the friends that he used to hang out with weren't friends that he got advised to hang out with but to that part of it not that I know of."
"Anytime we're together it was just to socialize or mostly, go to the Cayes, hang out at my house, and party."
"Jovial yes, he, I mean we socialize a lot so it's not like, I've never seen him down, depressed, he's always in a happy mood. He's not someone that you'd expect to get in any type of problem."
But last night he was in the middle of a gang war, an apparent combatant in enemy turf - and police caught his two teenaged passengers with a loaded 38 revolver shortly after the murder.
