When a drug plane went down in the waters off Placencia on Saturday morning - there was a frenzy of speculation on the peninsula - about the so called "white lobster" that would come floating up. Village rumours in Placencia say that early on Saturday, some narco-minded seafarers went out and scooped up a few floating kilos of the drug cargo that had surfaced.
Well, now, Police say they have found one kilo brick of cocaine on one of the cayes located off the coast of Placencia.
At around 2:00 yesterday, the cops conducted a search at an unnamed island, located in the Lark's Caye area, East of Placencia. That led to the discovery of this black package, with the word, "Beretta" on it. The officers sliced it open, and that's when they saw the familiar, white powdery substance.
No one was in the area, and it was taken to the police station where it weighed in 1.153 kilograms - or 2 and a half pounds.
