But two more kilos isn't much considering that the narco-jet's fuselage may have been filled with tons of cocaine. We asked the ComPol about this, and he encouraged any Belizean who may have found additional kilos to come forward and hand them over for their own safety.
Jules Vasquez:
"Is it frustrating for you all to find something like that knowing it's just one crumb of a very large cake whose whereabouts are unknown?"
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"There are many frustrating things right now, Jules. We continue to do our search and yesterday we found an additional two kilos and two persons are in custody or should have been charged by roday for those two kilos. We have interviewed a number of persons and are in the process of interviewing additional persons. We are still hopeful that we will be able to locate the majority of the drugs. And again I want to appeal to my fellow Belizeans, if it is that you have any of those drugs, please surrender it to the police, it is in your best interest because if the cartel hear that you have it, they will come for you. We have received information that a number of persons are inquiring and reaching out to others for sale, that will be right where you're going to get it because when you inquire you will inquire to the wrong persons and it will reach the ear of the cartel that you have and are willing to sell. The safest thing right now is for the cartel to hear that the police have the drugs, If they want to come, let them come for the police, but it is not safe for anybody to have those drugs in their custody or care so please surrender it to the police."
Jules Vasquez:
"Are you afraid of a possible murder spike from this wet drop "come up", they feel it's a come up?"
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"Yes and that has always been the case and we do anticipate that that is going to happen because separate and apart from the cartel, we have our own Belizeans who may want to see that opportunity, they hear somebody got something, they go kidnap them, take away what they have, and then kill them so it can also result in a spike in crime so that just further solidify the fact that those persons who have found that they need to surrender it to the police. At this time we're seeing that the fishermen population has increased tremendously, everybody dah fishermen now in the south but they're fishing without a line so we know what they are fishing for."
The fuselage of the aircraft has still not been located.
