But those weekly bowsers supposedly coming across from Guatemala with thousands of gallons of contraband gas have to pass through a police checkpoint in Bullet Tree, and it seems they do so without police interference.
This should be a concern to the department since this is contraband fuel that passed right under their noses. Well, we asked the ComPol about this and as well the other illegal activities that are prone to that area. He told us that the department is already one step ahead in dealing with the issue.
Jules Vasquez:
"Is that something that concerns you that these bowsers allegedly with contraband fuel from Guatemala are just passing through a police checkpoint on a regular basis and second, the farm that everybody uses to take cattle to bring weed to do all kinds of outlaw activity, it has to be a concern for law enforcement because a backdoor, a contraband channel is hot right now, the BDF checkpoint has been removed from that general area and it's lawlessness on a whole other level."
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"Let me first say that the bullet tree checkpoint is not a 24 hours checkpoint, we only had one police officer there and two BDF and you will understand that that one police cannot stay standing at a checkpoint round the clock. What we have done though because like you rightly said there's a umber of incidents of concern including the theft of motor vehicles and that road is one of the most prominent road that they would normally use to take these vehicle out of the country into Guatemala so what we did recently was to re-strategize our wester composite. Our western composite used to based at Georgeville, we have now moved the wester composite at Bullet Tree so with our wester composite there along with the police that was there and the two BDF we now have a bigger complement of officers there so with that we can now man the checkpoint, still not 24 hours but for longer period of time and we also have a vehicle now that can do patrols on that Calla Creek/Santa Rosa road to deter those types of activities so we're going to see how those are going to work for us."
Jules Vasquez:
"Sir but isn't it the state who have opened the portal for illegal activity to traffic through that area because the cattle are taken through the backdoor through that same farm into Guatemala and this is a state sanctioned contraband."
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"I wouldn't say that Jules, If the state permit or authorize certain things."
Jules Vasquez:
"That are illegal."
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"If the state do have the authority by way of cabinet to make policies so if that if a policy that came form the cabinet that is legal."
Jules Vasquez:
"Wow."
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"It is, and so if you're saying that it is only for the use of transporting cattle and persons use it to bring in contraband there or contraband fuel or to traffic stolen vehicle that is not what was sanctioned."
