And while the ComPol hopes to catch illegal activities in the west, he is also hoping that they will be able to find a woman who has been missing since April 17th. The family of Michelle Kim Martinez, who is from Corozal, has been searching for her ever since, but to no avail. There are suspicions that her common-law husband might have been involved in her disappearance since, just the day before, he was seen abusing her in a video. ComPol said the department has seen this video, but doesn't know how much longer they can sustain the search.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police

"I know the report has been made to the police and the police have been in search of the young lady, we have also seen the video where she was being abused I think the day before by her common law and ironically just after the abuse she went missing. That is one thing the police is looking for at this time, to see if there is any connection to her disappearance and her accused abuser. You would know that we cannot sustain these searches for too long because it take a lot of our human resources and with what has been occurring with the teachers, the unions, have been taking a lot of our resources and we still have the issue of crime to deal with but the police still have that matter open, whenever we receive any tip we would act on those tips and I want to appeal to the family or anyone who may have any information as to where she might be to please feel free to visit the nearest police station and we are going to act on any information we receive."
The common-law husband was detained and later released following the discovery of the video.
