But last month, the ComPol told the media that the mediation session they had with the gang members was going to be the last, and, following that, harsher measures would be taken.
But, it seems that he may be going back on his word though because today he told us that while he knows that they won't be able to eradicate crime completely, the department will continue to work with gangs and stakeholders to mitigate the violence.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"Many of the core issues behind these crimes and violence are not things that the police be dealing with, but end up doing it because of the fact that we want to ensure that it helps to make our policing effort much easier and so as I said before in previous interviews that we need to find a way where we can bring all the different stakeholders together to see how we can really and truly address the root causes of these crimes. But we are not going to be naive to believe that there is going to be anything we can do to totally eradicate the gangs or to totally get them to fall in line with ordinary people behavior and so the truth of the matter is we have to come down hard on some of them and I think we are reaching that boiling point where we will have to put away some of them."

"Sir, but on May 25th you said the same thing. You said this is your last chance. You can't keep saying this is your last chance. We know how that works."
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"That was the first time I said this was the last chance and the other times I've said it, I was followed with action and I am not going to go back and talk to no gang member, I am not going to try to bring them to no table at this time. We will do what needs to be done and actions is going to follow."
