Yesterday, we asked Police Commissioner Chester Williams about the URP audit during his interview in Dangriga. He said that the police were furnished with a copy of the findings and that he has directed that the matter be investigated by Criminal Investigations Branch. Here are those comments:

Chester Williams - Commissioner of Police

"I received a copy of that report, I think about 2 to 3 weeks ago from the Auditor-General. We sat and we had a very lengthy discussion over it, and that matter has been assigned to CIB to investigate as well. I think I saw 3 prominent names in that report where persons connected to those persons were getting relief funds that they were not entitled to, and so, the matter is - as I said - with the police now, and we're doing our investigation."

Reporter
"Any hope of real success in this investigation, sir?"

Chester Williams
"Well, of course, it's not as tedious as the previous audit reports. It's a much shorter one, and so, I believe that we should be able to draw down on that very quickly."

We'll keep following the matter closely.
