And from an Indian wedding to Cancun murders Last night we told you about two possible Belizeans that were killed in Cancun this week, and one more that had disappeared. The two murder victims reportedly are Osmond Melendez and Norman Haulze but while these are the names floating around, there is no official confirmation. That's according to the Belizean Ambassador to Mexico, Oscar Arnold. He told our colleagues at CTV3 that the men haven't been identified yet because they had no ID's on them, and that it is other acquaintances of the victims that have been informing their families of their deaths. He added that this information isn't forthcoming to the officials because of the nature of the activities the men may have been participating in. But he did mention that the first Belizean who we know to be Melendez was shot on Monday and the second one presumably Haulze died during a shootout with police on Tuesday night. Arnold told us what he knew so far:

H.E Oscar Arnold - Belizean Ambassador to Mexico
"On Tuesday night there was a shootout in Cancun and I think some of those pictures had surfaced on social media in Belize as well because the media here in Mexico had also have those pictures on their page and social media and you can see that there was a dark complexion individual who was lying on the ground presumably dead, so we started to make requests because now, we were trying to connect the dots, we hadn't received anything official from the authorities, we were doing that Tuesday night and on Wednesday morning, we were informed they may have been separate incidents and that is when we learnt of the incident on Monday night, which is being linked to the family in Corozal and I believe the one you are speaking of and there was another shooting again in Cancun, where that individual was also shot and killed. We have received documentation from the family and we've passed that on to the authorities there in Cancun and they are ascertaining as to whether this is the same individual, they are trying to identify the body, there has not been any other family member in Cancun that could do, we believe it's just acquaintances that were that advised the family of this incident and so it was a little bit difficult because they authorities could not id, there was no id found on him and so we're in the process of doing that, so we're looking at 2 incidents on the second one that happened on Tuesday, 5 individuals, one was killed, 2 other individuals were shot and 2 other individuals were taking into custody as well. We have been contacted by a family in Belize City on that second incident. They have provided photo, they have provided distinguishing marks, tattoos and scars and we have passed that information on to our counsel in Chetumal and he's following up with the police and the other authorities there in Cancun."
Unofficial reports identify the third man as Kyle Montero.
