18 Being Smuggled

There is a report of human smuggling coming out of western Belize - and 18 persons were victims. On Wednesday morning, just before 11am, police stopped and searched two vehicles on Paslow Falls Road, in the Cayo District. The first vehicle, a white Chevy Equinox being driven by 43-year-old Reynaldo Alberto Vellos from Belmopan, had 8 illegal immigrants inside. The other vehicle, a black Ford Escape, had 10 illegal immigrants and was being driven by 38-year-old Hector Alias Sanchez. Both vehicles were impounded at the police station and all persons were detained pending charges for immigration offenses.
