He's accused of one of the most sensational murders of the year - the killing of 15 year old SJC student Dwayne Gabourel. But Dayne Gillett had to wait almost a month before he could face a judge to hear a murder charge.

That's because the 24 year old had tested positive for Covid 19 at the time of his arrest.

Today, 25 days later, Gillett - who was unrepresented - saw the arraignment unfold virtually as he sat in a prison cell alone and wearing a mask in a prison issued orange jumper suit.

Magistrate, Khiana Gordon in Court #2 did the virtual arraignment at 11:30 this morning. There's no bail for murder so he was further remanded to the Belize Central Prison until December 21, 2021.

The killing stems from a gang rivalry between two areas of the city that have been feuding for decades - and has resulted in 3 child murders in the past 12 years.

Notably, Dayne Gillett is a cousin of 14 year old shooting victim, Laddie Gillett.
