A Belizean man identified as 22-year-old Arlon Leonel Mendoza has been reported missing in Chetumal, Mexico.
According to reports from across the border, Mendoza was outside his house in a residential area on November 14th when a Volkswagen Jetta pulled up in front of him and three armed men attacked him and dragged him into the vehicle.
His wife reportedly tried to intervene but she was threatened with a firearm by the abductors and had to protect her child. The abductors sped off and though police officers were deployed in the area, they were not able to intercept the vehicle.
Additional reports say that abduction is connected with a shooting that occurred in a Chetumal neighborhood, which left a man and a woman injured. The Mexican police believe this kidnapping is retaliation between feuding criminal groups.
