Last night, you heard the complaints from Reese Fitzgibbon's girlfriend about the police. She says that the cops shot him for no reason.
His family says that on Saturday night, police officers barged into their home on Supal Street and detained him in connection with a shooting that happened earlier that evening on Amara Avenue in Belize City.
Fitzgibbon and his family insists that he had nothing to do with that incident, but the police ended up shooting him with rubber bullets, allegedly while he was already handcuffed.
This morning, he spoke with the press, and recounted the incident:
Reese Fitzgibbon
"Saturday night a shooting happened on Amara that I don't know anything about. The police is saying that my area is messing with Supal Street. I don't name Supal Street, I name Reese Fitzgibbon. They ran at my house banging down my door, I am inside with my 2 stepdaughter 12 and 13 years old - when the police got in there, they flash guns around having my kids bawling. They grab me and tell me to let's go and they are not telling me what they are taking me for and I am trying to ask them why are they taking me."

"When I reach outside, they grab and handcuff me backway. Now they open the truck and as I walk into the truck the police put the gun on my side and shoot me with a rubber bullet tearing up my side and have me in pain. After they shoot me, they drove up the street to see what kind of damage they have done to me. After that the police pointed the gun in my face and told me if I move, he will shoot me in my face with the shotgun."

Reese Fitzgibbon
"Before I got in the truck, they already handcuffed me and I walk in the truck the police shoot me. When I reach the station, the corporal there call his boss and told him that they brought me in, but they shot me."

"Do you know who is the officer who shot you?"
Reese Fitzgibbon
"I didn't get his name. I didn't see the name on his shirt."
Reporter
"Do you know his face?"
Reese Fitzgibbon
"I know his face."

'What next would you do?"
Reese Fitzgibbon
"I want to sue, because they violated all my rights at the station, because when I reach there, they didn't want to assist me. From the time they shot me in the truck, I asked them to take me to the hospital, because I was bleeding and swollen up. When I reach the station, the corporal started to stomp and kick me. The corporal told his boss that they had to shoot me because I was resisting."
Fitzgibbon and his family attempted to make a report today at the Professional Standard Branch, but he could not provide a vaccine card or a recent PCR Test. As a result, he was denied entry, but he insists that he will continue to press the matter against the officer who shot him.
