Honey Camp that tiny village in Orange Walk with less than 50 residents has seen two murders this year. The first was a decapitation in June, and last night, a friend of that victim, 48-year-old Angel Gongora, was found with stab wounds.
And so far, the police haven't had much luck in figuring out why Gongora who residents say was a friend to all would be so callously killed. Today, they gave us some preliminary details. Courtney Menzies has this story:
Honey Camp is a community almost too small to be considered a village. And in this tiny area in the Orange Walk District where everybody literally knows everybody two murders in one year has left them shaken.
And for the first murder back in June, 48-year-old Angel Gongora gave our colleagues at CTV 3 and interview:

Angel Gongora - Friend of Deceased
"He went back to where he was staying after 9 and after that I didn't hear anything until this morning until they told me Rambo is there dead."
And now this friend of a deceased has become the deceased himself.
Gongora was reportedly found inside his grocery store after 9pm last night. He was last seen alive 90 minutes earlier. Police are trying to figure out what happened in that hour and a half:

ASP Fitzroy Yearwood - Communications Officers
"Police went out to that scene after 9 last night, when they got on the scene the lifeless body of Angel Gongora was on the floor in a pool of blood with several stab wounds all over the body. The scene was processed, he was transported to the northern regional hospital where he was pronounced dead by a medical officer. We know our officers were out there for a while canvasing that area and they received information that we believe is useful in that investigation for us to probably lead to an apprehension and hopefully an arrest."
Reporter
"Have a motive?"
ASP Fitzroy Yearwood
"Not as yet, it was not robbery because one, certain items that were recovered were on the scene, if robbery was the motive, those wouldn't have been recovered by police on the scene."
And the residents are still shocked since, according to the owner of the ranch where the murder occurred, Gongora had no issues with anyone.

Steve Hernandez - Ranch Owner
"He was a hardworking person for many years, he's a good man, he doesn't have bad habits. He's friendly. He decided to open his own business there. So he put up a shop there. We used to help him. Many years he has his place there. Last night, I received a call that they found him dead. So I did a report to the police and we came here to Honey Camp. They told us that he had stab wounds. That's all I know about what happened. He didn't have problems with no one. About one month ago he got his firearm. But last night the police retrieve the firearm from the scene. He didn't have problems with anyone."
