A Chinese businessman was killed on his morning jog today - and it looks like a hit.

The victim is well known bakery owner from mile 8, 52 year old Zi Hui He, who is called "Jacky".

He was known in the community as a jovial and generous - but he was marked for death.

And as he was finishing his morning walk this morning - bot far form his factory and residence a killer struck.

By the time the cops got their Jackie was motionless on the side of the road. That's where Cherisse Halsall picks up the story.

A shocking early morning shooting saw 8 mile resident Zi Hui He or Jacky as he was know in Belize shot to the body and left dead on the shoulder of the John Smith Link Road. The businessman - whose bakery was less than a mile away at the mile 8 junction had gone for his routine morning walk, not knowing that someone wanted him dead. It appears to have been an execution as there was no robbery element.

ASP Fitzroy Yearwood, Communications Officer
"Well, clearly we can rule out robbery as a motive, when you go walking you of course wouldn't be taking any excess weight on you. Especially the type of apparel that you use when you're exercising, so we have ruled out robbery like you clearly stated and we are trying to establish the motive, so for us to move forward it would want to lean towards what people on the street would call a hired kill, no. So, we are trying to establish, and as soon as we establish the motive we would be able to give you a clearer picture of what took place out there this morning, no."

This was Jacky at the murder scene when his employee was killed in February of this year; this morning he became the murder victim.

A former employee who rushed to find Jacky's body this morning

Voice of Former Employee
"Well, I was out here, came to the shop to buy and someone met me and said that my ex-boss got killed but I didn't believe it myself until I rode there and saw it on my own."

"I just saw him on the ground face down and right away my emotion just came out because I didn't expect something like that."

Cherisse Halsall:
"Now, over the summer there was a robbery here."

Voice of Former Employee
"I am not quite sure about that, so can't say anything about that."

Courtney Menzies:
"Is it safe to assume that maybe he was being monitored for some time considering that it's a routine walk that he does?"

ASP Fitzroy Yearwood, Communications Officer
"Well, that would be a safe guess i'd say but here we cannot speculate, we have to lean towards the facts."

And the facts are what the Chinese community is now searching for. They say that Jacky was somewhat of a philanthropist, and one with a sparkling personality to boot. That's why his brutal murder this morning came as quite a shock.

Johnson Ou, President, Chinese Association
"I can't believe it, they must have made a mistake or take him for someone else and until I verify with the police department and then I will know."

"Mr. He I knew Mr. He for the past 20 years. He's one of the biggest supporters in the Chinese communities and when it comes to donating with him, just one phone call away. He never hesitates and he is kind and very generous and our community lost a big one and what I mean by that is not any of the financial or anything like that. A person like him, how he carries himself and his characteristics and I can not think of anyone that could replace him. Like I say his attitude and that's, that's the one that we need in the society. And it's just not the financial part it's that I keep within me the personality that Mr. He has and that's, I miss that the most."

Jacky will be missed by the community and certainly by his family who now have to struggle to get over this shocking loss.

Johnson Ou, President, Chinese Association
"I spoke to his wife just not too long, just 10 fifteen minutes because I don't want to add on to it and they need time to heal."

Police recovered a single 9 millimeter shell from the scene. We note that Jacky Store - also at mile 8 - is owned by He's brother - and it was the scene where a robber was killed in July.
