And from Belize's prison to one of New York's hospitals… A heroic nanny is fighting for life in a Brooklyn ICU after she was hit by a Dodge Ram Pickup truck on Monday morning.

The truck was reportedly making a left turn onto Union Street when it struck 52-year-old Arcellie Muschamp - a US resident who is originally from Punta Gorda. At the time, Muschamp was pushing a stroller with the 1-year-old infant boy that she nannies. But before the vehicle could hit the child, though, Muschamp shoved the stroller out of the way, taking the brunt of the impact. The injury left her in a critical condition. And while the doctors are working on saving her life, the parents of the infant have started a GoFundMe to raise money to pay for her medical bills. Her family here in Belize is hoping that she pulls through, and her brother told us today that the parents have been in communication with his other sister.

"They have spoken to my sister Miriam, she's currently in PG but she lives in Jersey and they told her that the parents was really amazed on the heroism of Araceli and the close connection she have with kids. And for that, Araceli's boss open a GoFundMe on their own without, well, they consulted us, but we did not ask for it but they did it on their own to assist so for that we are really grateful."

"She's a very kind heart person, to me she was loved by many. There's a lot to say about her, she's really nice. She really care a lot for kids, for she it was all about her kids and the kids she take care of. So it really hurts but it's life and it's kinda hard on us too because my mom just passed away the 11th of November."

"Like how my sister has a lot of friends in Belize due to schooling, it would be appreciated but like I said, her boss in the US opened a GoFundMe and it's doing really well but you know expenses over there is a lot so everything count, I mean Araceli is still in the ICU unit with induced coma."

Courtney Menzies:
"Do you know the extent of her injuries?"

Tito Muschamp, Brother
"It's critical, they did a brain surgery,, the doctors were very skeptical of going in there because of the severity of damage but they gave us a slim chance of survival but when they went in a did the surgery, they were amazed that it wasn't as bad so they're trying their best to bring her to…"

Muschamp has been working as a nanny for the family for a year, and has been living in the US for about two decades.
