Tonight, Belizean law enforcement is looking into a mystery jet ski that was found at sea, just east of Placencia Village, off the coast of the Stann Creek District. They are awaiting official confirmation from their Honduran counterparts, but investigators suspect that it is connected to a missing Honduran woman who has been identified to us as Angie Peña.

Reports are that she went missing in her home country about 18 days ago. Viewers will immediately notice the jet ski featured in this picture of her, which was featured in Honduran news outlets.

Press reports out of that country say that Peña, her mother, and her sister went on vacation for the New Year Holiday weekend in the Bay Islands of Roatan. This is reportedly the last picture Peña took; she and her sister rented jet skis for a tour of West Bay Beach. They were reportedly accompanied by a guide for the first trip. She returned to the sea for a second go, and that was the last time she was seen or heard from.

It is believed that she had some sort of accident at sea, and reports are that the Honduran Authorities conducted an intensive search for 15 days by air and sea. They suspended their search 4 days ago.

7News understands that a Belizean fisherman found a grey jet ski, with similar colors and characteristics to the one Peña was last seen on.

Police and the Belize Coast Guard visited Tarpon Caye today, took custody of the jet ski, and interviewed the fisherman. Coast Guard teams are currently searching that general are looking for any other signs or perhaps Peña herself.

In the meantime, both the police and the Coast Guard have informed their counterparts in Honduras about the discovery. We understand that police are awaiting confirmation on whether or not the serial numbers for this jet ski match the one which Peña rented. But, sources tell us that there an earring was found on the engine area of the watercraft. That earring reportedly resembles a sunflower design which is also being associated with Peña.
