Four fishermen from the Corozal District who were allegedly found with 300 undersized conch appeared in Belize City Magistrate's court to each answer to a single charge today. The men, 40-year-old Ronald Estuardo, 43-year-old Yovanie Tun, 44-year-old Luis Martinez, 27-year-old Aldair Tzul, and Edgar Pott were all charged jointly, however Pott was ill and could not appear.
Escobar was accused of being in possession of 31 undersized conch; Tun with 121 conch; Martinez with 37; and Tzul with 111. The bust reportedly occurred around 8:45 pm on December 21st while the men were aboard a skiff near Lighthouse Reef.
In court, they were all unrepresented and pleaded not guilty to the charge. Since they appeared on summons, no bail was necessary, and they will be back in court on March 20th.
