Two men walked from separate murder cases today after they were both released on a nolle pros.

In the first case, it was 25-year-old Joel Choco who had spent spent more than four years on remand for allegedly murdering 27-year-old Windell Gibson and allegedly attempting to kill Karron Santos.

Back in 2017, Gibson and Santos were at the Conch Shell Bay Fish Market when two men rode up to them on a motorcycle and one fired shots. The victims tried to escape, but the assailant pursued them, killing Gibson and injuring Santos.

The second accused assailant, 26-year-old Orlando Salazar had the charges withdrawn against him back in 2019.

The other case to end in Nolle Pros was concerning Sherman Rodney. Rodney was accused of beating up and killing 35-year-old Lloyd Augustine back in July 2017 at a house on Doris Brooks Street in Belize City.

Both cases were before the newly appointed Justice of the Supreme Court, Ricardo Sandcroft. There was no reason given for the Nolle Pros.
