There was a fatal traffic accident in the Toledo District that happened yesterday on San Antonio Road.

At around 4 p.m., 51-year-old Enero Bol was riding a motorcycle, and in front of him at the time was 23-year-old Antonino Cal, who was riding a bicycle. According to police, Cal attempted to make a U-turn which caused Bol to hit him from behind with the motorcycle. Both men suffered head and body injuries, but unfortunately, Bol passed away.

Here's what police had to say about that incident when the press asked about it today:

ASP Fitzroy Yearwood, Communications Director, Belize Police Department

"Police responded to a scene around 4:09 p.m. on Sunday where they saw one Mr. Jenario Bol, fifty-years-old, with severe head and body injuries. Next to him was a Honda motor bike that he was driving. Another man was also on the scene, Antonio Cal, twenty-three-years-old and next to him was a bicycle. The initial investigation so far has revealed that Cal was riding his bicycle. Not too far in front of Mr. Bol and Cal made a u-turn, causing Mr. Bol to collide into him. Both men were transported to the Punta Gorda Hospital where Mr. Bol succumbed to his injuries."

Antonino Cal has since been served with a notice of intended prosecution, and a blood sample has been obtained from him for testing.
