And while his case is over, it's just beginning for a Belize City Cab driver - who's accused of a major heist from a jewelry store.

On Monday, 55 year old proprietor Ethan Medina got to his establishment, Medina's House of Jewelry at #1 Orange Street to report that there had been a burglary over the weekend.

An assortment of jewelry valued at approximately $20,000 dollars and a laptop and two iPhone were stolen. The thief had gotten in through a concrete wall where an office was located on a west side of the building.

Police lifted finger prints and ended up arresting 48 year old taxi driver Raymond Anthony Montes, from Police Street.

Montes, who is a well-known criminal figure and convicted burglar, was taken to court in the prison van this morning around 10 where he appeared before Senior Magistrate, Tricia Pitts-Anderson in Court#3.

Montes was read criminal offences of burglary for the Medina House of Jewelry burglary. Montes in the presence of his attorney, Norman Rodriguez pleaded not guilty and since there was no objection to bail, Senior Magistrate Pitts-Anderson granted him bail of $5,000 which he met.
