A terrifying home invasion took place at around 2:00 a.m. yesterday in the village of Cotton Tree, near Belmopan.

It happened in the home of a woman known to us only as Indira, and that's because after the terrifying ordeal in which she was threatened at gunpoint, she was understandably hesitant to appear on Plus TV's cameras.

Tonight, she tells the tale of unwavering courage in the face of assault and the fear she felt not only for herself but for her young daughter and elderly mother who were also at home:

Indira - Victim of Home Invasion
"At that time they grabbed the phone from my hand and I hurry to cut it off, so they made me unlock it just to make sure that the call was not made to the police after that they started to ask me for the money demand the money and one of them told me they were going to rape me and he took me to the next room. They didn't hurt any of us, they just this, like this short guy came telling me every minute I will get rape, he insist I will get rape, I even told him that I was pregnant but I am not pregnant. I just invented that. I stayed in shock and just at that moment I prayed to God that my daughter didn't get up and scream because maybe it could have gotten worse because she would have made noise. But it happened fast, so I stayed in shock. They got all the cash that I had upstairs, they got a chain with my name Indira, from that, they brought me down at gunpoint, they made me open the door from downstairs and they came into the shop to come and look for the shop, the demanded the money, they were looking for this amount of money honestly I don't know what they were looking for. And they are still asking for money and they even said that if I didn't give them the money they would kill my mom. After that, I told them that somebody was coming so they hurry gone."

According to Indira, the thieves made off with approx $400.00 in cash, 2 cell phones, a laptop, and a pack of cigarettes.
