For two weeks now - San Pedro residents have been struggling with a very poor water supply. The water coming into their homes is just a trickle - and it is causing widespread misery and suffering for the many thousands of residents who don't have a water reservoir.

Well, today, BWS issued a release saying the suffering will soon be over.

The problem is a damaged gearbox in one of the island's three water trains. Now, usually two trains could handle the town's load, but with tourism in high gear - the demand is too great.

The 1,000 pound gearbox went down three weeks ago on February 25th. And was sent out for repairs. BWS announced today that it has finally arrived back in the country and, quote, "has been rushed out to San Pedro for installation." But, they're warning San Pedranos not to expect an overnight miracle. The storage has been depleted to the company says it will need to, quote, "continue with reduced water pressure and planned late night interruptions for several days in order to maintain minimum storage levels to allow supply during peak hours."

In the interim, BWS is asking residents and businesses on the islands, quote "especially the hotels, to conserve water during this period."

Now, that's a hard sell to tourists - and townspeople are concerned about what will happen during Easter when the island is inundated with visitors.

The release says BWSL, quote, "assures the public that this situation will be resolved well before the upcoming Easter Holidays, when the demand increases even more." End quote.

We'll keep you posted on how it's going.
