Tonight, a 13-year-old minor is fighting for his life at the Southern Regional Hospital. It happened on Sunday evening at about 4:30 when a drunken brawl left the minor, Adrian Sho, with a stab wound to the jaw and his Uncle Bonifacio Sho dead after succumbing to his injuries.

Today when our news camera's arrived in the village we found a family in shock having lost a brother and holding out little hope for the life of their nephew.

Francis Sho, Brother of the Deceased
"My brothers, they were going to play a football game at the field. At that time my next brother told them to go to the field. So they decided to leave. My next brother went to the field, so the two of them; my brother and my little nephew they went the other way where the other guys were under the influence of alcohol, so that's where they get into this incident that took place."

"What do you understand as the catalyst that spark the incident?"

Francis Sho, Brother of the Deceased
"What I think is that they were under alcohol and they were their friend, because they didn't know what those other guys have in mind against them, because they were drinking from early in the morning. We don't know what happened right there, because we were not around the place, but I just saw my little brother went coming to my next brother's home and he was in a serious situation. All his intestines were out and he got a big hole in his stomach, but he walked a little distance to reach my next brother's house and he couldn't make it again."

"My little brother is a cool boy and he don't really argues with other people, maybe my nephew or my other brother - they go under alcohol and maybe they get into small little fights, but he is always cool and he just back up them and he is always around attending to them and now this is what he gets meanwhile he is attending to my little nephew."

"John is trying to recover right now, but I don't know if he will make it, because he is under a critical situation because of the surgery he will take. We haven't gotten any notices as right now. We will try our best to see what we can do with him, because it's a very serious situation and we can't say if he will make it, but we pray to God that he will make it. He is so young and we tried talking to him, but he still follows other friends and they go and drink together with other friends. I think maybe it's just a misunderstanding with my little nephew, because when he gets under alcohol maybe he wants to start a little fight or something. But those guys use weapons to fight."

Here's what the cops had to say about the familial tragedy earlier today.

ASP Fitzroy Yearwood, Communications Director, Belize Police Department

"Clearly we can see where consumption of alcohol has led to this recent murder. We know that Bonifacio Sho, twenty-one years laborer of Stann Creek District, had an apparent stab wound to the lower side of the abdomen. Initial police report, investigation reveal that Adrian Sho, a 13-year-old, also received injuries in this incident and we have one man detained that we believe is responsible for this murder. We know that these men were in Red Bank Village socializing, when an incident occurred between Bonifacio Sho and Francisco Sho and Adrian Sho. We know that these men were taken to the polyclinic in Independence where Bonifacio succumbed to his injuries. We have the others that were socializing with him in custody; we have Jose Cal where we also have what is believed to be the murder weapon. Hopefully by the end of today, we will have charges levied in this recent murder."

"We know that the 13-year-old had injuries to his face that was inflicted by Bonifacio. What led to the altercation, we do not know, but as a result of it, we now have somebody dead in this situation. We know that they were all socializing, so obviously they knew each other and like I said we do have Jose Cal detained and hopefully we will be able to bring some kind of conclusion by the end of today."

At this hour there is no update on the condition of Adrian Sho. He remains at the Southern Regional hospital where reports this morning were that he was critical but stable.
